Curriculum

Building Strong Foundations

for Lifelong Learners

At Genius Hive Pre-school, we follow a progressive curriculum guided by two national frameworks - the Early Years Development Framework (EYDF) (2 months to 3 years-old) and the Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) Framework (4 to 6 years-old). Developed by Singapore's Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) and Ministry of Education (MOE), these frameworks provide continuity in care and learning throughout your child's early years.

Our holistic approach supports every aspect of growth by building a strong foundation in academics, developing character, values and social-emotional skills, cultivating curiosity and positive learning dispositions and equipping children with essential 21st century competencies.

With this approach, we not only prepare children for a smooth transition to Primary School, but also nurture them into joyful, confident and curious lifelong learners.

Early Years

18 months to 3 years-old

Playgroup: 18 months to 2 years-old

Nursery 1: 3 years-old

Our relationship-based focus continues in our early years classes, where the positive and enriching learning experiences prioritise on building secure and trusting relationships.

In a safe and familiar learning environment, children learn and practice self-help and practical-life skills in their daily routines to develop independence and a positive self-concept.

As children become increasingly aware of their social environment and surroundings, they are exposed to meaningful and multi-sensorial learning experiences. Carefully designed to develop the foundational skills essential to support their learning and overall development, our Early Years programme intentionally addresses the four areas of development mentioned in the EYDF:

  • Cognitive Development

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical Development

  • Social and Emotional Development

Preschoolers

4 to 6 years-old

Nursery 2: 4 years-old

Kindergarten 1: 5 years-old

Kindergarten 2: 6 years-old

Play-based learning opportunities continue to play a big part of the education experiences amongst our older children to spark curiosity and inspire intrinsically-motivated learners.

Interactive learning experiences are designed to promote active inquiry and discovery in our classrooms and the outdoor environment. These experiences focus on developing the five learning areas set out in the NEL Framework:

  • Aesthetics and Creative Expression

  • Discovery of the World

  • Health, Safety and Motor Skills Development

  • Language and Literacy (English and Chinese)

  • Numeracy

Values and positive dispositions are integrated in every day interactions that develop every child's social and emotional competencies, enhancing and inculcating a holistic approach to learning and development.
